The first recordings should be up within 24 hours! Check out Folktunes News for a more formal informal blog about collection progress.

I came across these forum posts and was delighted but I can't find Chinkapin or Tofex through the archive.org/audio/etree page. Are these classified as live music or open source or what? The only links I could find to the servers were here in the forum or on that journal/blog page ForrestO posted.

I'd like to upload some of my solo banjo renderings, time permitting, but my connection is way slow.

Ah.

Unfortunately the FolkTunes link is sequestered in the Netlabels section right now:

http://www.archive.org/audio/collection.php?collection=folktunes

..until they get enough items to make it a larger collection. If you'd like to upload into the Folktunes collection, though, either contact Forrest on the page, or upload into Open-Source Audio and make it clear in the description it's for Folktunes, and I can move it in.

Thanks,
Simon.

Simon, thanks for putting that option out there! I'm working on a way to upload through our site, but I haven't got it quite finished.

5string, we would love to have your stuff.

Are you familiar with the advanced interface to the contribution engine?

http://www.archive.org/help/contrib-advanced.php

This is intended for people who run their own sites but want an automated way to contribute items to the Archive.

Thanks for that link, it will probably cut out a couple of steps for me in getting this implemented.

So the first release is up and usable! We will get derivatives soon, which will be more useful for most people than Flac. Maybe I'll just make my own derivatives until then.
